Vertical Surfaces

How we look at each project

Vertical surfaces define how a space is perceived. Uneven planes, poor alignment, and rushed finishes are immediately visible and difficult to ignore.

We approach walls, backsplashes, and vertical planes with a focus on alignment, proportion, and restraint. Our goal is to reduce visual noise and create surfaces that feel intentional rather than busy.

What Vertical Surfaces Are

Vertical surfaces include walls, backsplashes, surrounds, accent walls, and any upright plane that frames how a room is visually read. These surfaces are the first thing people notice and the hardest mistakes to unsee.

How do they affect the space?

Poor alignment, uneven planes, rushed tile work, or inconsistent finishes create visual noise. Even high-end materials look cheap when vertical surfaces are not planned and installed correctly.
When executed with restraint and precision, vertical surfaces bring order to a space. Lines feel intentional. Transitions disappear. The room feels calm instead of busy.

What Can Be Done Without Full Construction

In many cases, vertical surfaces can be refined without gutting a space. Backsplashes, feature walls, surrounds, and surface finishes can be upgraded while preserving existing layouts and systems.
When structural issues, water damage, or layout failures are present, a full rebuild may be required. We evaluate this honestly before recommending demolition.
